Laravel 13 released, Which AI Model Is Best for Laravel, How To Build a PMF Machine, There are only two paths left for software & more

Hey Makers 👋

Big news this week: Laravel 13 has officially been released 🎉 — and SaaSykit is already fully compatible with it.

This release is more of an incremental step forward, bringing a handful of thoughtful improvements while putting a stronger focus on AI-related capabilities — a clear signal of where things are heading.

Join 850+ developers already using SaaSykit to build and launch their SaaS faster.

If you’d rather focus on refining your product instead of reimplementing the same core features over and over, SaaSykit gives you a production-ready foundation out of the box — so you can spend your time building what actually sets your SaaS apart.

Now, let’s take a look at what’s new in the Laravel & SaaS world 👇

Picking the right AI model for Laravel development is harder than it looks.

So, for the past few weeks, we have been running an internal experiment called Boost Benchmarks. We had two goals:

  • Find out which AI models handle real Laravel tasks best.

  • Measure whether Laravel Boost, the MCP server that provides AI coding context for Laravel applications, actually improves agent performance (short answer: it does).

Learn how to use MongoDB's multi-document ACID transactions in Laravel to ensure data consistency across collections when atomic operations aren't enough, with practical examples of handling rollbacks and failures.

Laravel Pint's Laravel preset now includes the fully_qualified_strict_types rule, which automatically replaces fully qualified class names (FQCNs) with short class names and adds the corresponding use statements. The rule was added by Nuno Maduro and applies to both code and PHPDoc annotations.

I’ve seen over the years many developers using the Repository pattern with Laravel, attempting to apply clean architecture concepts to their applications, but often misunderstanding the general concept of using a framework like Laravel.

All about SaaS

Storytelling is one of the most underrated leadership skills. The kind that determines whether your team is aligned… or quietly building five different versions of the same thing. When things feel a little misaligned or chaotic, it’s often not a strategy problem. It’s a storytelling one.

The SaaS era was defined by unbundling : find a workflow, optimize it, own it. Salesforce chose sales automation. Slack chose chat. Dropbox chose file sharing. Point solutions won by perfecting single workflows. The playbook : own one pain point, expand from there.

Since subscription apps first started to gain in popularity, free trials have been a foundation for most user acquisition (UA) marketers, serving as the main proxy event to attract real long-term subscribers. But this tactic, like so many other elements of our industry, has been changed by AI and vibe-coding. It’s now harder than ever to run campaigns optimizing towards a free trial, largely due to the enormous competition and overall declining trial conversion rates.

Emmett Shear, the co-founder of Twitch, visited speedrun founders for a session recently. Someone asked him how he would describe product-market fit. His answer, “How do you describe being in love? You know it when you’re in love.”

Fair enough. But the job of a founder isn’t to sit around waiting to fall in love. The job is to put your best foot forward and to avoid looking for love in all the wrong places. And the combination of a team of engineers cranking out features with AI, a lack of vision for your product and an undisciplined feature list is exactly that—looking for love everywhere all at once with a bad haircut!

Public markets have already repriced the sector, and for good reason. They are telling us software terminal value is not what it used to be. I do not know what moves every stock in the next quarter, but over the medium and long term I think there are only two credible paths to durable equity value creation.

Greatness begins with stick-to-itiveness. It's about iteration and repetition. One-shotting something superb is rare. The more common path to quality is mundane but effective: an endless commitment to the doing-and-assessing feedback loop. It's producing five beats a day for three summers; it's drawing a hundred owls
